This was a "fairly good" dinner.
We have been before and everything was perfect, this time, just ok.
Seafood Chowder was warm and tasted ok. Meals looked a little like something you would get from Lonestar as the plate was brimming with food (mainly chips and coleslaw) but tasted ok.
Service was ok, although the waitress was somewhat confused as to what a cocktail was.
Not sure whether there is a new chef since we last visited but we were disappointed since we were extremely impressed last time we ate there.
Don't think that we will be going back,

Hey Canterburygirl, thanks for your feedback. I'm dissappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. We try very hard to make Oasis the highlight of every guest's day in we clearly have not done this in your case.
You mentioned the fries and coleslaw on our menu. I'm assuming your talking about our Lamb Sandwich. Our chef is still Reece who i think does a fantastic job. We have not changed our food but have added a few "comfort food" style dishes alongside our regular menu. These dishes were added mainly aimed at our in-house hotel guests. But i wonder after your feedback if these dishes our confusing our regaular diners. We certainly have all our regular favourites on our menu such as Venison Surf and Turf, Seafood Trio and Hereford Prime and the style of these dishes has not changed.
I do hope you'll give us another go and i'm sure we will impress you once again.

We were given the opportunity to go back to Oasis and give them another go. On our return we were very pleasantly surprised.

We had chicken and brandy pate with bread and chicken teriyaki rice paper rolls which were both fresh and delicious. Our mains followed, pork belly and hereford prime, again both were really nice, especially the potato that came with the pork. A chocolate mint cheesecake followed along with a liquer coffee, both of which finished off the meal nicely.

We had the comfy booth seats and we also had excellent candlelit service. This meal was much more reminiscent of the first time we ate at Oasis, a 9 out of 10!

Warm, friendly and excellent value. We visited on a Saturday evening and were given a warm welcome as we entered from the cold wintery night. We had reserved a window seat overlooking the river (as recommend by another member), thanks. Our waitress, Emma, was friendly and dealt well with our ‘happy’ table well. All four of us settled on the $49 three-course menu that was on offer. I enjoyed the pâté, and was pleased to get sufficient bread and crackers. I heard no grumblings from the others as they tucked into their seafood chowder, scallop twisters and teriyaki chicken. Our mains arrived in the right amount of time, the 3 seafood trios looked well presented, my steak was hot and cooked just as I had asked, the béarnaise sauce that accompanied it was delicious. We all deliberated the dessert choice with three of us plumping (perhaps not the best choice of word) for the Tiramisu and one for the Lemon Tart. My Tiramisu was yummy and the mouthful of Lemon Tart I tasted may be my choice on the next visit. Only one negative, as this restaurant is also a bar they had a TV on for the rugby, this was a little distracting and felt wrong for the dining environment they had created.

We came in for brunch Sat am - it's always great to sit in all the glass that is Oasis and it is that that keeps it separate from the hotel above it. Breakfast was fine and all based around bacon as it should be at that time of the week and day ....as i said it is nice to have bacon ..and beer... while the sun streams in and travellers from the hotel come in for brunch too.

My partner and I went here because we wanted a quiet dinner just the two of us, this was the experience that we got.
We had excellent wait staff and our drinks and entrees were promptly brought to us. I tried a non-alcholic cocktail and it was divine!!
The food arrived and was also excellent, prefectly cooked and tasted excellent.
As mentioned by another reviewer, we too had a voucher, but we spent well over its value.
A great dining experience and we will definitely return!
